April 27 MBI Class Featuring Bernard M. Sweeney and Julio Casiano!
Upper Albany Main Street is proud to present April 27th’s MBI Class speakers Bernard Sweeney, District Director of the Connecticut Small Business Administration (SBA), and Julio Casiano, Business Development Specialist at the SBA. Bernard and Julio offered an expansive understanding of business planning and critical resources for our students to use to develop accurate projections to accompany their business plans. April 25th Clean Water Open House Success!
Upper Albany Main Street’s first open house for area residents on the Clean Water Project was a success, with the contractors meeting with residents to explain the processes involved in sewer separation, and the community being able to see who is involved in improving their sanitation situation. A big thanks goes out to Luis Santos from Baltazar and H. Charmaine Craig from the Knox Parks Foundation for presenting at our open house.
April 20 MBI Class Featuring Glenn Geathers and Precious Ross!
Upper Albany Main Street is proud to present April 20th’s MBI Presenters Glenn Gaethers from the City of Hartford’s Department of Development Services, Economic Development Division, and Precious Ross, a local business owner, resident, and secretary for the Upper Albany Development Committee. Precious and Glenn implored the class on the development of the Town Center on Woodland Avenue, and also on the work that the City of Hartford has been doing to cultivate the economy in the North End. Burton Street Sewer Separation Project Open House
Upper Albany Main Street has been collaborating with The MDC as the community liaison for the Burton Street Sewer Separation Project encompassing Burton St., Irving St., Magnolia St., and Sigourney St. We’re proud to announce our Open House on April 24th, 2010 at the MDC Ancillary office at 863 Albany Avenue from 10am to 1pm. Refreshments will be served alongside additional information pertaining to the project and the answering of any questions or concerns from any residents involved. We hope to see you there!
April 13 MBI Class Featuring Hartford Economic Development Division
Upper Albany Main Street is proud to present April 13th’s MBI Class presenters from the City of Hartford Department of Development Services, Economic Development Division. Jose Rodriguez and and his team of business specialists explained their role as enablers to entrepreneurs in the Hartford area by providing free consultation services and business plan analysis. They were chock-full of great advice about what to consider before beginning a business, and the proper procedures to follow before startup and to grow once begun. Thank you very much for coming to our class!
April 13 CNG High Pressure Lines
CNG has been hard at work on Sigourney St. finishing up installing their high pressure gas lines to prepare for Baltazar to begin separating the sewer lines and installing laterals of their own.
April 6 MBI Class featuring Nadine Francis-West
Upper Albany Main Street is proud to present April 6th’s MBI class speaker Nadine Francis-West! Nadine is the Vice President and Director of Finance, Administration and Governance at the Metro-Hartford Alliance. Nadine described the purpose and the goals of the Metro Hartford Alliance as an enabler for the Hartford region and their goals for the region as a whole, offering it as an inspiring approach towards the city’s development. New Chrysalis Commons!
Here is the grand-opening presentation for the Chrysalis Commons on Homestead Avenue! A huge congratulations to Chrysalis for all their hard work and dedication culminating in a fabulous renovation of the Sealtest building on the corner of Woodland Ave. A special thank you goes out to their organization for all the wonderful things that they’re doing for the people of Hartford, and we wish them a warm welcome to the North End.
April 5th Baltazar Digs Test Pits; CNG Continues Line Work
It’s a beautifully busy April day on the Avenue with Baltazar cutting into the asphalt to investigate other utility’s placements at the end of Burton Street as they continue preparations for the sewer separation, and CNG continuing their gas-line work on Sigourney Street in Hartford.
