On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Upper Albany Main Street (UAMS) proudly honored Dr. Walter Harrison’s retirement as President of the University of Hartford.  Board Members thanked him for his contributions in sustaining the mission and vision of the agency.  Those in attendance celebrated his leadership and involvement as a Board Member of major institutions, organizations and agencies in greater Hartford.

In accepting our Distinguished Service Award and a CT State Assembly Proclamation on behalf of Representative Matthew Ritter, Dr. Harrison spoke about the mentorship he received from various community leaders.  He also shared memories of his experiences working with Margery Steinberg, Professor Emerita of the University of Hartford, Marilyn Risi, Executive Director, UAMS and Nadine Francis-West, Board Secretary, UAMS and other members of the community.

Upper Albany Main Street is grateful for Dr. Walter Harrison’s 19 years of leadership and support of the mission and vision of our program.  We look forward to the future while recognizing that President Harrison will leave a legacy of leadership that is second to none.
