Leadership Greater Hartford Visits Upper Albany Main Street

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, Leadership Greater Hartford, along with 13 officers from the Hartford Police Department visited Upper Albany Main Street to discuss important safety topics within the Upper Albany community.  Also in attendance were Merice Henriques-Bryan, owner of Healing Hands Home Care Services, Steve Dunn, owner of SMD Properties, Herman Todd, owner of Living Word Imprints, and Fay Santouse, owner of B&L Cleaning Services.  Several questions were asked regarding future ongoing support that the community will receive from the Hartford Police Department.  Upper Albany Main Street would like to thank everyone who attended this important meeting.

Route 44 Safety Improvement Program Update

Schedule: Week of March 25, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Installation of electrical wires is underway for the new traffic signals installed at the Bravo Plaza entrance on Woodland.

Schedule: Week of April 1, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Installation of electrical wires continues for the Bravo Plaza entrance on Woodland. Permanent signals at this intersection are scheduled to be fully operational by the end of this week.

Looking Ahead…

  • Line striping of new lanes is scheduled for the next few weeks at the intersection of Albany and Homestead and also at the intersection of Albany and Kent.
  • Sidewalk reconstruction is scheduled to resume within the next month on the south side of Albany between Cabot and Edgewood, and also on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Oakland Terrace.

Business access will be maintained. All travel lanes on Albany will remain open before 9am and after 3pm; during other hours, partial lane closures may occur. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on Homestead and Westbourne. Hartford Police will assist motorists.

Route 44 Safety Improvement Project Update

The Route 44 (Albany Avenue) Safety Improvements Project website has been updated with new schedule content.

Schedule: Week of March 11, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Westbourne and Albany resumes Monday, March 11th, and will continue into the week of March 18th.
  • Travel lanes will remain open in all directions at the intersection of Westbourne and Albany during electrical work; partial lane closures may occur. Police officers will be on-site to help guide traffic. Expect minimal delays.
  • The new traffic signals added at the intersection of Kent and Albany are scheduled to begin operating on flash this week.
  • Project coordination and planning continue in preparation for the upcoming spring construction season.

Schedule: Week of March 18, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Installation of traffic signals continues this week at the intersection of Westbourne and Albany. Travel lanes will remain open in all directions; partial lane closures may occur. Police officers will be on-site to help guide traffic.
  • The new traffic signals added at the intersection of Kent and Albany are scheduled to be fully operational by the end of the week.
  • Installation of new permanent traffic signals is scheduled to occur at the intersection of Woodland and the Bravo Plaza entrance. Expect minimal traffic delays.
