Job Description

Position Overview
Upper Albany Main Street (UAMS), or other business entity is seeking a motivated and detailed managerial intern to serve as a Project Manager in business/organizations operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the organization by managing projects, ensuring efficient processes, coordinating resources, and facilitating communication, improving workflows, supporting strategic initiatives, handling administrative and logistical tasks.

This role provides hands-on, real-world experience supporting community development, small business assistance, and nonprofit operations. The Project Manager will work closely with UAMS leadership and assigned entity to coordinate initiatives, track deliverables, support cross-functional projects, and ensure timely execution of organizational priorities.

This position is ideal for students studying business management, nonprofit management, public administration, urban studies, communications, or a related field who are seeking applied learning in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager will support multiple operational and programmatic initiatives, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and monitor daily operational activities to ensure efficiency and compliance with policies and program requirements
  • Assist with the development and implementation of operational systems, processes, and best practices
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, task lists, and milestones
  • Monitor project progress and report updates to staff and leadership
  • Coordinate meetings, take notes, and track action items
  • Support program launches, events, workshops, and community initiatives
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and internal process improvement
  • Organize digital files, project documents, and shared resources
  • Support collaboration and communication between staff, partners, and volunteers
  • Assist in identifying risks, gaps, or delays and proposing solutions
  • Contribute to the development of basic project management tools, templates, or workflows
  • Assist with budget monitoring, expense tracking, and invoice processing
  • Ensure adherence to compliance requirements and organization policies

Qualifications

  • Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management or related field (or equivalent experience).
