Job Description

Position Summary:

Upper Albany or other entity is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support its Financial Management Teams. This role involves assisting with financial assessments for an organization, analyzing data, building financial models, and contributing to strategic recommendations that enhance operational efficiency and financial sustainability.  This is a paid internship and requires 200 hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct financial reviews and assist in preparing assessment reports for nonprofit clients.
  • Analyze financial statements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support data collection and analysis for community needs assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop data-driven insights.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and documentation for stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with reconciling restricted vs unrestricted funds
  • Track and categorize incoming donations and grants
  • Building financial models/ budgets for programs and operations.
  • Support procurement and transactions reviews
  • Support cash flow tracking and forecasting
  • Use accounting/financial software applications (QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
  • Assist with compliance and audit preparation.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Finance, Accounting, Business, or related degree program.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Professionalism and integrity in handling confidential information 

Supervision & Reporting:

The intern will report to designated Upper Albany staff members who will provide regular oversight, mentorship, and performance feedback. Progress will be monitored to ensure alignment with project goals and deliverables.
