Route 44 Safety Improvement Project Update

Schedule: Week of April 22, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Drainage and utility work continues on the north side of Albany and Blue Hills.
  • Granite curb installation continues on the north side of Albany between Oakland and Deerfield.
  • Installation of light pole foundations, conduit, and temporary illumination continues on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Deerfield.
  • Preparation work for new sidewalks and driveway aprons continues on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Oakland.

Schedule: Week of April 29, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Granite curb installation continues on the north side of Albany between Oakland and Lenox.
  • Installation of light pole foundations, conduit, and temporary illumination continues on the north side of Albany between Oakland and Lenox.
  • Installation of concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons will begin on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Oakland.
  • Brick paver installation continues on the south side of Albany between Cabot and Edgewood.

Business access will be maintained. All travel lanes on Albany will remain open before 9am and after 3pm; during other hours, partial lane closures may occur. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on Homestead and Westbourne. Hartford Police will assist motorists.

Route 44 Construction Schedule Update

The Route 44 (Albany Avenue) Safety Improvements Project website has been updated with new schedule content.

Schedule: Week of April 8, 2019*

Normal Work Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday

  • Demolition of existing curb/sidewalks will begin on the south side of Albany between Edgewood and Sigourney and also on the north side of Albany between Oakland and Deerfield.
  • Saw cutting of the roadway will occur on the north side of Albany between Oakland and Lenox.
  • Drainage and utility work will resume at the NW corner of Albany and Blue Hills.
  • Granite curb installation will occur on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Oakland.
  • Installation of light pole foundations, conduit, and temporary illumination will occur on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Oakland.
  • Traffic signal foundation installation will begin on the NE Corner of Albany and Woodland and also on the SW corner of Albany and Edgewood.
  • Brick paver installation will resume at the intersection of Homestead and Albany and also on the south side of Albany between Cabot and Sigourney.

  • Traffic signal foundation installation continues on the SW corner of Albany and Edgewood.
  • Installation of new concrete sidewalks and driveway ramps will begin on the north side of Albany between Woodland and Oakland.
